WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN ACCOUNTANT AND A BOOKKEEPER?
Bookkeeping is the first part of accountancy, so our work often overlaps. Simply put, bookkeeping is the recording of daily transactions. Accountants then use this information to produce financial models and file accounts. Bookkeepers can prepare year end reports, ready for your accountant to sign off, and so opting to appoint a bookkeeper is often more cost friendly, as there is less work for your accountant to do when finalising your accounts. Unlike accountants, we stay with you throughout the year and can give you up to date information on how your business is progressing.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED A BOOKEEPER?
Appointing a qualified bookkeeper can save you time - allowing you to focus on your business whilst we take care of your day to day accounts. It can also give you peace of mind, knowing that your accounts are being taken care of and reported accurately according to HMRC rules, so you will never have to worry about late filings or rule changes. Finally, a bookkeeper can help you to grow your business, by producing monthly reports to show you where you could be saving money.
DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR VAT?
According to HMRC rules, you will need to register for VAT if your turnover for the previous 12 months has reached £85,000, or if you expect to reach this within the next 30 days. Once you have registered, you will be required to produce VAT returns and file these with HMRC according to their rules. I use my own agent account and can register you and produce and file returns for you, whilst giving you accurate information on which VAT schemes may be most cost friendly for your business.
CAN YOU WORK AT MY PREMISES?
Absolutely! I have a full UK driving license and am more than happy to come to you if this is best for you. I tend to find that clients with a high volume of supplier invoices opt for this service. I also have my own accountancy software and am more than happy to work remotely. Whatever's most suitable to your business needs!
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
I offer specially constructed packages around your needs with a fixed monthly or quarterly fee, depending on the services you require and the volume of work needing to be undertaken. Please get in touch for a quote.

No absolutely not! My background in the arts has certainly given me an insight into the creative industries that makes it something I specialise in. However, I have clients from various industries and am happy to chat about ways I can help your business - no matter what business that may be!
